Black Lagoon: Eda Initial Stage (ブラック・ラグーン エダ イニシャルステージ Burakku Ragūn Eda Inisharu Sutēji), usually shortened to Eda Initial Stage (エダ イニシャルステージ Eda Inisharu Sutēji), is the second official Black Lagoon spinoff series starring Eda as the main protagonist. It is written and illustrated by Hajime Yamamura, including original characters created by series creator Rei Hiroe. The ongoing series is serialized monthly in Monthly Sunday Gene-X under Shogakukan Inc. alongside the original Black Lagoon manga series and the first spinoff series Dismemberment Galore! The Gore Gore Girl. As of March 2026, there are eight published volumes, with a ninth volume coming out on August 19, 2026. Besides being published in Japanese by Shogakukan, the manga is also published in Taiwanese Mandarin by Ever Glory Publishing.
Plot
The story focuses on the titular character Eda and her life during her first years as an agent of the Central Intelligence Agency before she later got assigned to Roanapur and joined the Hooligan Church. She has finished her extensive training in combat skills and interrogation techniques to become a CIA field agent, starting with her first mission on behalf of the United States government to deal with a cartel in Central America.
