As thanks to Lotton for bringing her to a hospital, Shenhua told him he could stay at her place until she fully recovered from her bullet wounds. When she finally left the hospital, Lotton still remained at her apartment. Though she wanted to tell him to move out, she let him stay since she believed that he would not survive on his own due to his naïveté in the criminal world. Additionally, she allowed Sawyer to stay because she thought that the goth woman would simply allow herself to die on the street one day due to her anxiety.

A short period after Sawyer the Cleaner and Lotton teamed up with Shenhua, they moved in with the Taiwanese assassin. During Roberta's second visit to Roanapur, Sawyer and Lotton were playing a video game while Shenhua took a shower. As she finished up, the telephone began to rang, but the gamers did not answer it. Annoyed that they were addicted to their video games, Shenhua went to the phone and answered it. On the other end, Revy asked her to help her out on a job to find Roberta on Garcia Lovelace's behalf. Shenhua rejected her initial offer until Revy relayed to her that Garcia would pay her six grand. Once bartering for a better price of 6,500 dollars, she asked Lotton and Sawyer if they wanted to come along, and both of them raised their hand in agreement. At that point, the three freelancers left the apartment to meet up with Garcia's group.

In the debut chapter of Dismemberment Galore! The Gore Gore Girl, Sawyer was suffering from blocked bowels and had to use Shenhua's restroom. Before doing so, she brought some medication and medicinal tea to help herself. However, Lotton was outside and advised her not to mix the tea with her medication, but she had already ingested both, making her bowel problem worse. Frustrated that she was taking so long, Shenhua demanded to know when the goth woman would be finished. As she crouched on the toilet, Sawyer began to hallucinate, seeing animated corpses that she cut apart days ago. Although she continued hearing voices taunting her, one of the voices encouraged her to finish her bowel movement with a positive song. As a result, Sawyer finally unblocked her bowels, whereas Shenhua wondered if she was cutting her wrists again. When she exited the bathroom, Shenhua and Lotton were confused by her happy demeanor.

Sometime later, Sawyer had a strange encounter with a young boy, Heo, who helped her fight off some gangsters. The next morning, when Sawyer woke up, she told the story to Shenhua, who laughed at it and wrote it off as a fictitious dream due to a young boy somehow taking on several men by himself with Muay Thai. The Taiwanese woman then ordered Sawyer to get ready for work.

One night while Shenhua and Sawyer were out doing their respective jobs, Lotton played a fighting video game with an unseen friend. Not long afterward, he left the apartment to eat at the food stands where his two associates were also eating. Lotton relayed his gaming to Shenhua, who was irked that he brought someone whom she did not know inside her place without permission. In a later story, Sawyer acquired a video camera, intriguing Lotton. At home, Shenhua cooked jiaozi for dinner and served it to the two freelancers, with Lotton struggling to grab the meat with chopsticks. After eating, he went into his room and put the camera down so that he could make several poses. Subsequently, Lotton and Sawyer began to play video games, with the latter falling asleep at one point. As Lotton excitedly yelled at the TV while gaming, Shenhua complained that he had been playing video games the entire time. She soon went to her room and began to put on toenail polish while only in undergarments, and she realized that Sawyer was recording, angrily asking the latter what she was doing. Shenhua shoved the camera away and demanded Sawyer, also only dressed in undergarments, to hand it over. She pushed Sawyer back with a pillow and warned the goth woman that she would kill her if she tried to sell the video to a local market. Sawyer agreed to turn off the video camera, and Lotton quietly left the residence at the same time. One week later, Lotton still had not returned to the apartment, prompting Shenhua and Sawyer to depart and look for him, eventually finding him hanging out with Tou Chi.

Ma Yanlin, the mistress of one of Mister Chang's bosses, briefly stayed in Roanapur with Lotton as a guide. Once she left, Shenhua and Sawyer watched the movie which she created from her interactions with Lotton. At first, they thought the movie was supposed to be a romantic drama, but they were baffled that it turned out to be a slapstick comedy film. In a bonus chapter, Sawyer and Lotton were gaming once more when Shenhua entered the apartment and declared that she was hungry. Exchanging confused faces, the two of them followed Shenhua out of the apartment to a curry restaurant.

The next day, back at her place, Shenhua recalled how tasty the Japanese curry was, commenting that she could not find the location of the store or remember much about it. She asked Sawyer if she remembered anything, but the goth woman shook her head. Guessing that the store was closed, the dismayed Shenhua expressed her desire to eat it again. Smiling, Rock informed her that he recently acquired some Japanese roux, offering to make some for them. Sawyer raised her hand in agreement and Shenhua enthusiastically cheered, but Lotton silently refused to try any. The wizard watched them try the roux, but they discovered that it was bland compared to the curry they previously had, disappointing the women.

Upon realizing that the key which Sawyer fashioned into an earring was an item wanted by many gangsters in town as well as the Roanapur City Police, Shenhua assured her that she could stay at her apartment for the night. Sawyer politely declined the offer and instead decided to stay at her workplace.

As a result of being misidentified as a specific murderer, Sawyer fought off two men in a sewer and was covered in blood and sewage. Because she was completely covered in filth, she returned to Shenhua's apartment to take a shower. As soon as she got inside, she immediately removed all of her clothing as she walked to the bathroom, leaving behind a trail of her clothes and filth on the carpet. When Shenhua arrived home, she freaked out at the filthy carpet and yelled that she would not forgive whoever was responsible.
