Rock's hotel room (ロックのホテルの一室 Rokku no hoteru no isshitsu) is Rock's residence in Roanapur.
Features
In the anime, Rock's hotel room features a small bedroom that includes a full-size bed, an adjacent desk with a lamp and alarm clock, a small chair, a casement window with an interior glass casement and exterior, louvered wooden shutters, and a large drawing board next to the four-panel entry door. Opposite of the bed is Rock's CRT TV, clothes drawer, wardrobe, his Hawaiian shirt on the wall, and the two-panel door to the toilet. To the left of this door is a single sink and mirror.
In contrast, in the manga arc "The Wired Red Wild Card," his residence contains a living room with a tiled floor. The entry door is at the end of a narrow hallway before the living room. In the middle of the room is a rectangular coffee table with a couch near the entrance hallway, as well as a single armchair close to the blinded windows. To the right of the armchair is Rock's CRT TV, whereas a fridge sits at the corner adjacent to the hallway. Lastly, Rock's bathroom and shower are to the right of the fridge as well as a kitchen range and iron-guarded window. However, Rock's residence in later manga arcs was changed back to the hotel room which originated from the anime.
History
Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise
One morning before he had to leave Roanapur and accompany Balalaika as her interpreter in Japan, Rock woke up in his room with a hangover. As he rose out of bed, he thought about how exactly one year had passed since he was abducted by the Lagoon Company. Rock went to the window and looked outside while smoking a cigarette, also seeing Sawyer the Cleaner commencing her work of cutting apart a corpse.
Roberta's Blood Trail
After speaking with Garcia Lovelace and Mister Chang at Sankan Palace Hotel, Rock returned to his own hotel to plan out how he could "save" Garcia and Roberta, the latter of whom came to Roanapur to get revenge on Grey Fox. First, he laid out a map of Southeast Asia on his bedroom wall and grabbed some beer from his fridge. Frustrated, he attempted to assess how Roanapur's mafias would respond to the presence of both Roberta and the American soldiers in defense of their interests in the region. Upon realizing that the clash between Roberta and the Colombian Cartel's ally FARC in particular would be a bloodbath, Rock called Dutch and asked him about the details of how Balalaika owed him a favor for saving her years ago.
Additionally, he drew out various connecting diagrams on the map and wall naming the factions and their allies. Rock stayed up all night to think about every possible scenario concerning the crime syndicates' courses of action, resulting in him agreeing to help Garcia and Fabiola search for Roberta. A day later after a futile search and the end of the Council's meeting, the ex-salaryman returned to his hotel room and, with little clues about her whereabouts, angrily wondered where Roberta could possibly be hiding in the city.
The Wired Red Wild Card
Not long after giving advice to Feng Yifei on how to survive in Roanapur, Rock was relaxing at his place when Feng suddenly arrived with an extremely drunk Revy, who immediately vomited and laid on the couch. As Rock retrieved a bucket to help her ease her alcohol overconsumption, Feng explained that the pirate drank a lot of Bacardi and ganjiu, clarifying that she brought her to Rock's place since she found out he could take care of her. Revy entered the shower to make herself feel better, and Feng began a conversation with Rock and recalled what Revy told her back at the Yellow Flag. Rock replied that his previous history concerning Garcia and his maid had nothing to do with her, but Feng in turn responded that she needed to talk about her own history to Rock to make him see how his situation was tied to hers. He agreed as she got alcoholic drinks for him and herself, particularly cans of Singha.
The ex-salaryman then recollected the story of his ex-boss casting him aside and how he decided that he did not want to go back to his old life anymore despite having been offered the opportunity to do so. Similarly, Feng explained her family history in China's outskirts and her decision to join the People's Liberation Army's electronic engineering institute. After joking with each other, Rock asked Feng if she would have chosen a different path had she known she would end up disgraced in Roanapur, and the ex-PLA soldier nonchalantly confirmed she would. When she asserted that she would choose how she lived and died despite having pursuers, the both of them smirked, with Rock agreeing that such a choice was exciting. Changing the topic, Feng asked about Revy's status, and the two of them found her passed out in the bathroom. Per Rock's urgency, she quickly grabbed a towel for Revy.
El réquiem de los Desalmados
Having commenced his information briefing with Feng and Eda at the Yellow Flag, Rock returned to his hotel room to further plan out his overarching solution to resolving the conflict between Gris el Tigres and Hotel Moscow. Just as he had done during Roberta's second visit to Roanapur, he plastered various maps on his wall and examined important connections. Rock pondered on the connections between a governor from Mexico's Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), the former governor's corrupt relationship, and the impact of NAFTA on 275 foreign companies and Hermosa Verde Co.'s operational status. As he continued sitting in thought, Revy and Le Majeur visited with food, so they began eating. Summarizing the maps' significance, Rock claimed that his "final stroke" to end the feud would have to be done by his own contact. Revy advised against it since Dutch would be mad if he bailed out of work, asking if he had at least informed Mister Chang of the idea. Rock answered that the Council had reached the point of no return and therefore the situation appeared to be that either the Council or Hotel Moscow would be wiped out.
He elaborated that their final play involved the Lovelace foundation, one of South America's thirteen noble families. Skeptical, Revy reminded him that Garcia does not like them, to which Rock stated he nevertheless liked the perceived odds. She agreed to inform Dutch about his plan but declined to accompany him due to the sea routes being impassable because of the gang war. Although explaining he was not asking for her presence, Rock professed he wanted to visit Cananea with a bodyguard after he makes a trip to Venezuela. Majeur volunteered to assist him, but Revy warned her that she was still Balalaika's lapdog. Not deterred, the Frenchwoman joked that it would be a good opportunity to test out her forged passport. Declaring that they would leave tomorrow, Rock affirmed they would start with Venezuela first.
