Sakata (坂田) was a Japanese gangster affiliated with a yakuza syndicate.

Sakata was an adult Japanese man with short black hair, a skinny build, and pale skin. He wore a short-sleeved dress shirt with a popped collar and dark-colored pants, and he sometimes wore a black suit jacket as well.

Sakata was a calm individual who preferred to not overthink situations and live in the moment. He frequently smoked cigarettes and enjoyed eating cooked rice.

After killing a rival yakuza leader, Sakata took some money with him from Japan. Around the same time, he acquired a small toy at an arcade that his friend Ayako wanted. In Roanapur, Thailand, he talked with a senior-ranking member (ojiki) who was concerned about their rivals wanting revenge. When the ojiki asked him for money and tickets, Sakata blew out a puff of cigarette smoke and calmly remarked that he did not like hot weather. Angered, the uncle told him that the town's temperature would not matter if he was killed. Agreeing and changing the topic, Sakata wave around the small charm and stated that he promised to eat with Ayako, saying that he was lucky to win the specific charm from the arcade. The ojiki urged Sakata to head out and that he could give Ayako something better than a charm after dealing with those who wanted revenge on him.

Having a corpse disposal job for Sawyer the Cleaner, Sakata waited a port and smoked more cigarettes, joking to himself that his tobacco addiction was strong even in Thailand. As he repeated that he felt he was being messed with, Sawyer appeared at his side, scaring him since he had not noticed her presence. Seeing her point to her own throat scar, Sakata realized she could not speak, and he remarked that he could only speak Japanese and would not understand her anyway. Seeing her skull shirt, he complimented Sawyer as a cool punk woman. Getting to business, the Japanese man told her that he had been waiting for her for the cleaning job. Whereas she remained silent, Sakata yawned and stretched his arms as he repeated that he had work for her. Remarking that he was hungry, he asked her if she wanted to grab a bite to eat. At an outdoor dining place, Sakata ate some cooked rice despite its peculiar taste, and he encouraged the hesitant Sawyer to treat herself since the money he brought from Japan would last for a while.

As they ate, Sawyer noticed several men walking toward her who called her by name, asking her why she was eating at such a place. Turning his head, Sakata wondered what was going on, and one man told her if she did not start cleaning soon, then the site would stink. When the man grabbed her hand, Sakata pushed his arm aside, angrily telling him that he and the young lady were eating and demanded no disturbances. The English-speaking apron man yelled at him to get out of the way and speak English, whereas Sakata yelled at him to speak Japanese since neither understood each other. As the men argued, Sawyer tilted her head and showed a smile, shocking the English-speaking men since they had never seen Sawyer smile before. To Sakata's annoyance, they ignored his anger and awed at the cleaner's smile. The Japanese man listened to them claim that they would use violence even if he was an acquaintance of Sawyer. At that point, they were interrupted by a gunshot that whizzed past Sakata and broke apart the bowl on the table, scaring Sawyer. In response, the English-speakers pulled out their guns and pointed in the attacker's direction, calmly surprising Sakata due to everyone carrying a firearm. The men tried to assess who shot at them while the Japanese man advised Sawyer to flee the scene with him. Beginning to run away, Sakata heartily smiled and took Sawyer's hand, making her blush.

After escaping to another area in town, Sakata sat on a crate while Sawyer sat on another, assuring her that they were finally safe. Commenting on Roanapur, he stated that one gun shot in Japan would easily get one into trouble, whereas in Roanapur, people shot others in lieu of greeting them. Wondering what happened earlier, he asked himself what business the attackers had with Sawyer and who she was. As he thought to himself that he wanted to get a pistol, Sawyer tugged at Sakata's sleeve and pointed to a nearby building. Opening the warehouse door, the two stepped inside, and Sakata immediately covered his face due to the horrid stench. Looking around, he was surprised to find a dozen corpses lying throughout the place and guessed that a massacre occurred. Stepping on a pistol, he picked it up and observed that there were still bullets inside the gun. He was curious to see why Sawyer was carrying a bucket but realized that it was for cleaning up the corpses, thanking her for her help.

Smiling, Sakata declared that he would stay in Roanapur since he had a gun. Seconds later, he was suddenly shot in the back by an unseen assailant, falling to the ground. As he recognized the shooter, the shooter sarcastically apologized and stated that he could be allowed to return to Japan in return for killing his "bro," fleeing the scene. As Sakata cried on the ground, he saw Sawyer's silhouette looking over him. Using his last bit of strength, he held up the small charm from before and offered it to Sawyer, who was surprised at the gesture. In the end, Sawyer and her cleaners disposed of Sakata's corpse along with the others, and Sawyer added his charm to her collection.
